Have you ever wondered how to apply the principles of yoga in your everyday life? Maybe you want to be more mindful of your thoughts and feelings, but don’t know where to start. Well-read on for some simple tips that will help you live a healthier, happier life! Yoga is based on mindfulness and awareness.
Try these three steps:
Observe what’s happening in the present moment.
Then, describe it. Finally, ask yourself how you feel about it.
If you want to be happier and more mindful in your life, then try these three steps on for size. They are super easy! Don’t worry if you’re not getting much out of them at first; learning new habits takes time. But stay with the practice and in no time, you will begin making better decisions that lead to healthier relationships with family and friends as well as more positive thoughts towards yourself.
Observing what’s happening in the simplest step. It means tuning in to what’s going on around you and within your body/mind right now. You can do this while brushing your teeth or washing the dishes. Observing will help you to become more aware of what’s happening during your everyday life and in turn, this awareness will allow you to improve how you feel both physically and mentally. You are practicing yoga by observing your daily tasks as a mindfulness exercise.
Notice what emotions or thoughts are arising.
You can observe and describe your emotions or thoughts by describing what’s happening in terms of your body and how you feel (e.g., “I’m sitting here with a great weight on my shoulders”) as well as thinking about what is going on, i.e., your thoughts (e.g.” I really want to be more mindful of my life”).
Being able to notice what’s happening will help you become more aware of yourself which allows you to take better care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. It also helps if you explain why something is happening; for example, not just that the dishes are dirty but that they need washing because they aren’t clean enough—that way you can see when it’s logical to do something (e.g., wash dirty dishes) and when it’s not.
Choose an empowering thought or action in response.
In this step, you will choose a response to the emotions or thoughts that arose in your last step. You can decide how you want to respond by thinking about what is best for your mental as well as your physical health (e.g., I need to take better care of myself).
It’s common to feel bad when you’re moving in a new direction and practicing yoga philosophy takes time but if you keep with it, the benefits are amazing!
Takeaway:
The Philosophy of Yoga is simply the practical application of yoga in everyday life. It is fast becoming a new trend that will revolutionize how we work and live.
Yoga is based on mindfulness and awareness. In order to reap the benefits of yoga, it’s important that you take time each day for mindful reflection. You can start by setting aside 10 minutes in your morning routine or at night before bed to ask yourself a few questions like “What did I do today?” “How am I feeling about what happened?” and “What am I grateful for?”. This simple exercise will allow you to be more aware of how your thoughts affect your moods and feelings so that you can make changes if necessary. It’ll also help increase self-awareness which is key when dealing with stressful situations! We hope these tips have been helpful – feel free to share them below.
